Part of a cluster of barns on the Northwest coast of Anglesey, Trefadog Cottage is freshly renovated and full of surprises, it's the kind of place where you'll spend as much time outside as in, with a sandy beach on your doorstep,

Arrive through the front door and you’re met with a double-height hallway that sets the tone for everything that follows. Head up the steps to the right and into the living room, where you can fling open the patio doors, step out onto the balcony and breathe it all in. The views are breathtaking; sea, sky and ferries making their way to and from Dublin, with Holyhead port sitting quietly in the distance.

Back down and along the hallway, there is a kitchen and dining space that's sociable, generous and designed for people who love to cook and gather. Bi-fold doors run the full length, opening the whole space up when the weather plays ball onto another patio with outdoor seating.

Sleeping eight across four bedrooms, Trefadog works beautifully for families and groups. Two bedrooms and a large family bathroom sit on the main level, a twin and a bunk room. Tucked further into the barn, two super king bedrooms offer a little more peace and quiet. One comes with its own ensuite, a deep bath after a long coastal walk is exactly the kind of thing Trefadog was made for.

There is a practical utility room with a door out to the back patio is just the thing after a beach day, dogs, kids, sandy boots, will thank you for this added amenity. There's also a separate bathroom with a toilet and shower.

Outside, there's a stone patio with a chiminea BBQ alongside the kitchen, with a warm outdoor shower to rinse off after the beach next to the utility room that sandy dogs, muddy boots and salty kids will be very grateful for. Out front, the seating area is the kind of spot you'll never want to leave. Bring some blankets and wrap up as the wind can be bracing, but it’s worth it for the star gazing and people watching.

There's parking for four cars in your own private driveway, with an EV charger for guests. Trefadog Cottage welcomes two well-behaved dogs.

Whether you're soaking up the sun or watching a storm roll in off the water, Trefadog Cottage is a property that works beautifully all year round.

Please note: there are steps throughout the property, both inside and out, so it may not be suitable for guests with limited mobility.

The Location

Llanfaethlu (said: hlan-VYTH-lee) is a quiet northwest Anglesey village, offering a proper peaceful retreat with a local shop.

Nearby, Valley has more amenities, including the acclaimed Catch 22 Restaurant, and beach lovers are covered too, Porth Trwyn for soft sands and crystal waters, Church Bay if you want facilities close by. The village is also home to Condessa, a local liqueur maker, and the historic Carreglwyd Estate, both worth a look.

For a bigger day out, Holyhead is just 20 minutes away with plenty of shops, restaurants and attractions. There are scenic walks, local culture, and genuine rural charm, Llanfaethlu is a lovely Anglesey escape.

Rural and quiet, Llanfaethlu is best accessed by car. On-site parking is available, and the location is great for scenic drives or coastal walks.
