Meet the Heroes in Tool Belts – Our Maintenance Team 

This month in The AHL Essentials Series: The People Behind Your Stay, we’re celebrating the team who quietly keep everything running behind the scenes. They might not be the ones greeting you at the door, but they’re the reason you can open that door without it sticking, turn on the heating without a second thought, and enjoy your morning coffee without a leaky tap distracting you. 

At the helm is Jay, our Ops Manager. With his finger firmly on the pulse, he keeps a sharp eye on quality, safety, and compliance. But his role is more than ticking boxes, it’s about people.

I care deeply about the work we do here,” says Jay. “It’s not just about fixing problems, it’s about making sure our owners know their property is in safe hands, and our guests can enjoy their stay without a second thought. We work hard to be ready for the unexpected and to sort it quickly, without any hassle. That’s what makes us different.

Supporting the team day-to-day is Ann, our Maintenance Admin. She co-ordinates and assists in managing the department, ensuring jobs are logged, contractors are organised, and everything runs smoothly behind the scenes. Ann makes sure the right person is in the right place at the right time, a crucial part of delivering the service our guests and owners rely on.  

Working alongside Jay are the guys with the tool belts themselves, Dan, Kev, and our newest recruit, Adam. Between them, they can turn their hands to almost anything. They’re the first call if a storm’s knocked a fence down, the Wi-Fi’s playing up, or a lock decides to be awkward. They bring a great sense of humour to the job too, which comes in handy when the to-do list is long and the weather isn’t playing ball.

Adam has fitted in perfectly since joining. Dan’s the steady hand who knows our properties inside out, and Kev’s the man you want when tackling a tricky repair or pitching in with the less glamorous jobs, either way he does it with a smile. Together, they’re a team you’d want looking after your own home, hard-working, reliable, and always ready to step in. 

We also have a brilliant group of trusted local contractors we can call on when we need an extra pair of hands. They’re part of the extended AHL family and share the same pride in keeping our properties safe, well-maintained, and guest-ready. 

From refreshing picnic areas to repairing a burst pipe, no two days are the same for the maintenance team and that’s the beauty of it, they’re ready for anything. What really makes us different from any other short term rental agency is the people on the ground who care enough to make sure every single stay is as seamless as possible. 

So next time you arrive at an AHL property and everything just works, spare a thought for our heroes in tool belts, they’ve already been there, making it happen.
