What’s On During the Summer Holidays 2026
Summer holidays are just around the corner, for guests travelling to Anglesey this summer here’s a roundup of some of our favourites. Beyond the beaches, there’s a great line-up of cultural, sporting and culinary events happening throughout July and August, well worth planning in whilst you’re here.
Here’s what’s on, along with the essentials, admission, location and dog-friendliness, so you can plan.
Firstly, when are the summer holidays?
Exact dates vary slightly by county, but the school summer holidays in England and Wales run from the 21st or 22nd July through to 31st August 2026.
The Menai Strait Regattas
A must for any family that loves being on the water. The Menai Strait Regattas span two weeks of classic boat, dinghy and cruiser racing along the Menai Strait, the notoriously tricky tidal channel between Anglesey and the mainland. Highlights include the iconic ‘Race Through the Swellies’ and the ‘Round Puffin race’, plus daily club-hosted regattas.
Dates: 27th July – 8th August 2026
Cost: Entry fees apply for competitors; free for spectators
Where: Beaumaris for the first week, with some races also based in Caernarfon in the second week
Parking: Available throughout Beaumaris and Caernarfon
Dogs: Yup, spectators are welcome to bring dogs along
Anglesey Summer Festival
Brand new for 2026, bringing together the previous Menai Food Festival and Beaumaris Food Festival into one bigger event at Parc Yr Odyn, Pentraeth. Expect over 100 food stalls showcasing the island’s best produce, craft exhibitors, and plenty for the whole family.
Dates: 1st & 2nd August 2026
Cost: £5 per day, under-16s go free
Where: Parc yr Odyn Farm, Pentraeth (home of Anglesey Môn distillery), LL75 8UL
Parking: Free, onsite
Dogs: Dogs on leads are welcome on site, though not in the marquees, worth having someone on dog duty while others grab the food.
The Anglesey Show
A HUGE date on the island’s calendar. This two-day event brings livestock displays, equestrian shows, vintage vehicles, craft stalls and country pursuits, plus the lively ‘Y Cowt’ entertainment zone. Younger visitors will love the funfair, dog show, small pets classes and live music.
Dates: 11th & 12th August 2026
Cost: £20 per adult, £4 per child, under-5s free. Family tickets available.
Where: Anglesey Showground, Mona, near Gwalchmai, LL65 4RW
Parking: Free onsite parking, or a park-and-ride from Mona Industrial Estate
Dogs: Well-behaved dogs on leads are welcome

Watersports and boat trips for families
The Anglesey coastline is a natural home for watersports. If you’d rather stay above the water than in it, Menai Bridge-based RibRide runs adventure boat tours around Anglesey and beyond, round it off with a meal at one the many restaurants in Menai Bridge.
Just over the bridge, in Snowdonia
A couple of events sit just across the Menai Strait in Snowdonia, but they’re firmly on our radar, one of them is a race several of our team have run over the years. Both make for a brilliant, genuinely inspiring day out if fitness, health and wellbeing are your thing.
Snowdon Race
One of Europe’s most iconic mountain races, the Snowdon Race draws elite and amateur runners from across the world. Runners head from Llanberis to the summit of Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon) and back, a 15.35km route with a 994m ascent and views to match. Families can soak up the atmosphere trackside, with food stalls, live music and entertainment throughout the village.
Dates: 18th July 2026
Cost: Free for spectators; runners must book in advance via the official site
Where: Starts and finishes in Llanberis, with the event village near the start line
Parking: Available but fills quickly, Llanberis has several pay-and-display car parks within walking distance
Dogs: Welcome as spectators on a close lead, just consider whether the atmosphere will suit them
Snowman 2026
Set beneath the peaks of Eryri, the Snowman Swim is part of the wider Snowman Triathlon weekend. Swimmers take on a 2.4-mile swim in Llynnau Mymbyr, while spectating families can enjoy the scenery, local food vendors and a genuinely supportive festival atmosphere.
Dates: 27th July 2026
Cost: Free for spectators; swim entry fees vary by distance
Where: Plas y Brenin, Capel Curig, signage and stewards will guide you on the day
Parking: Provided at Plas y Brenin, follow signage and staff instructions
Dogs: Welcome, kept on leads around the event area and lake
Beyond the events
Alongside the calendar of events, there’s no shortage of ways to fill a summer’s day here sandcastles on the beach, a barbecue with a lakeside view, a picnic with the mountains as your backdrop.
